Delete Account

How to delete your Cricplay account and remove your data.

The in-app route, what data is removed, what data is retained for regulatory reasons, the withdrawal-before-deletion rule, and how to escalate if the platform does not respond.

Section One

How to delete your account, in order.

Account deletion on every major Indian rummy platform follows the same five steps. The platforms differ on small details: the location of the delete button, the wording of the confirmation prompt, the time the deletion takes to complete. The flow is the same.

  1. Withdraw your full wallet balance. Most platforms will not process a deletion while there is unplayed cash in the wallet.
  2. Open the app and sign in. Tap the menu icon, then Settings, then Account, then Delete Account.
  3. Read the deletion confirmation carefully. The platform will tell you what data is removed and what is retained for regulatory reasons.
  4. Confirm the deletion. The platform will send a one-time code to your registered mobile number; enter the code.
  5. Wait for the deletion to complete. Most platforms complete the deletion inside 7 working days. The platform will send a confirmation email when the deletion is complete.

After the deletion

Once the deletion is complete, you cannot sign in to the deleted account, you cannot withdraw any remaining balance (which is why step one matters), and you cannot register a new account with the same mobile number for at least 12 months. The platforms that allow immediate re-registration after deletion are the platforms that treat deletion as a marketing opt-out rather than a real deletion; the editorial desk does not endorse this approach.

Section Two

What data is removed, and what is retained.

The platforms distinguish between data that is removed on deletion and data that is retained for regulatory reasons. The retention is required by Indian tax law, anti-money-laundering law and the state gaming law that governs the platform’s licence. The platforms that retain data only for the legally required period, and that delete the data after the period ends, are the platforms whose data policy the editorial desk endorses.

Data removed on deletion

The platforms remove your name, mobile number, email, KYC documents, deposit history, withdrawal history, table history, bonus history, and login session log. The removal is complete inside 30 days of the deletion confirmation.

Data retained for regulatory reasons

The platforms retain a minimal record of your account (mobile number hash, PAN hash, deposit-and-withdrawal totals) for the period required by Indian tax law (commonly 8 years from the last transaction). The retained record is not accessible to the platform’s marketing or customer-care teams; it is accessible only to the platform’s compliance officer and to law-enforcement requests.

After the retention period

After the retention period ends, the retained record is deleted automatically. The platforms that publish the retention period and the deletion-after-retention policy in their privacy notice are the platforms whose data policy the editorial desk trusts.

Section Three

Cooling-off: the alternative to deletion.

If you are considering deletion because you want a break, a cooling-off exclusion is a less drastic alternative. The cooling-off exclusion locks your account for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days without deleting the account. After the period ends, you can sign in again with the same account, the same wallet, the same KYC file.

Cooling-off is reversible. Deletion is not. If you are uncertain whether you want to leave the platform permanently, start with cooling-off. You can always delete the account later.

The platforms that offer both cooling-off and deletion, and that explain the difference between the two, are the platforms whose account-management flows the editorial desk endorses.

Section Four

When the platform does not respond to a deletion request.

If the platform does not respond to your deletion request inside 14 working days, escalate. The escalation paths are the same as the customer-care escalation paths: the platform’s responsible-play channel first, the state gaming authority second, the consumer forum third.

Responsible-play channel

Write to the platform’s responsible-play channel. Account deletion is a responsible-play matter because it is a player’s right to leave the platform. The responsible-play team has the authority to escalate to a manager and to bypass the customer-care queue.

State gaming authority

If the responsible-play team does not respond, write to the state gaming authority that issued the platform’s licence. The authority can require the platform to complete the deletion on your behalf.

The customer-care chapter has the full escalation walkthrough, including the consumer forum route.

Section Five

What happens if you want to register again later.

Once your account is deleted, you cannot register a new account with the same mobile number for at least 12 months. The 12-month cooling-off period is the platform’s way of preventing the deletion-and-re-register cycle that some players use to chase bonuses.

Why the cooling-off period exists

The cooling-off period protects the player from their own short-term impulses. A player who deletes the account in frustration at 11pm and re-registers the next morning has not really left the platform; they have just reset their KYC file and started over with a fresh bonus. The cooling-off period forces a real break.

After the 12-month cooling-off

After the 12-month period, you can register a new account with the same mobile number. The new account is treated as a new account; it gets a fresh KYC file, a fresh wallet, and a fresh welcome bonus. The old account remains in the platform’s retention-only database for the legally required period; it cannot be reactivated.

Cooling-off as the alternative

If you are considering deletion because you want a break, cooling-off is the less drastic alternative. The 30-day cooling-off exclusion lets you return to the same account after 30 days with the same wallet, the same KYC file and the same history. If you decide during the 30-day exclusion that you want to leave permanently, you can convert the cooling-off into a deletion by contacting customer care.

Section Six

Third-party data deletion: KYC processors and payment partners.

The platform shares your KYC data with third-party processors (PAN verification, Aadhaar verification, UPI PSPs) and with payment partners (the bank that processes your deposits and withdrawals). Your deletion request to the platform does not automatically trigger a deletion request to those third parties; the third parties hold their own copies of your data under their own retention policies.

KYC processors

The KYC processors (the vendors that verify your PAN and Aadhaar) retain your data for the period required by Indian law (commonly 5 years). After the retention period, the data is deleted. You cannot accelerate the deletion by writing to the KYC processor directly; the processor is contractually obligated to retain the data.

UPI PSPs

The UPI Payment Service Providers (PSPs) that process your deposits retain the transaction records for the period required by RBI regulations (commonly 10 years). The PSP cannot delete the records on your request.

Bank

Your bank retains the records of every deposit and withdrawal you make on the platform for the period required by RBI regulations. The bank cannot delete the records on your request.

The platform

The platform deletes your data from its own systems inside 30 days of your deletion confirmation. The deletion covers the platform’s own database, not the third-party processors’ databases. The platform publishes the deletion scope in its privacy notice.

Section Seven

After the deletion: what you cannot do.

Once your account is deleted, several things become impossible. The list below is editorial; verify the platform’s deletion terms for the specifics.

You cannot sign in

Your sign-in credentials are revoked. Any attempt to sign in to the deleted account will fail with a generic “account not found” message. The platform will not reactivate the deleted account on request; the deletion is final.

You cannot withdraw remaining balance

Any remaining balance is forfeited at the time of deletion. This is why step one of the deletion flow is to withdraw your full balance. A player who deletes with an unwithdrawn balance loses the balance.

You cannot claim pending bonuses

Any unclaimed referral bonus or unplayed welcome bonus is forfeited at the time of deletion. This is why the editorial recommendation is to claim and clear (or forfeit) all bonuses before you start the deletion flow.

You cannot register a new account for 12 months

The 12-month cooling-off period prevents deletion-and-re-registration cycles. The platform will block a new registration with the same mobile number for 12 months from the deletion date. After the 12-month period, you can register a new account, but it will be treated as a new account with fresh KYC, fresh wallet and fresh welcome bonus.

After the deletion

What happens to the data, and what the desk recommends

A deletion request is the most consequential action a reader can take on the platform. The deletion closes the reader's account, removes the reader from the platform's active user list, and triggers the data-removal workflow. The reader should expect a confirmation screen, a confirmation email, and a waiting period of up to thirty days before the deletion is final.

Data removed on deletion is the data the platform is not required to retain: the reader's chat history, the reader's game preferences, the reader's deposit history (in summary form, not in transactional form). Data retained for regulatory reasons is the data the platform has a legal obligation to keep: the PAN, the Aadhaar, the bank account reference, and the transaction log of deposits and withdrawals.

The retention period varies by jurisdiction and by platform policy. The desk has checked the platforms it covers, and the period is consistent: between five and seven years for transactional data, with the regulatory basis cited in the platform's privacy policy. After the retention period, the data is destroyed, and the destruction is logged.

Cooling-off is the alternative the desk recommends for a reader who is not sure about deletion. A cooling-off period is a self-imposed block on the reader's account, with a fixed end date the reader sets in advance. The reader who cool-off is the reader who can reverse the decision at the end of the period, without going through the deletion request. The page describes both paths so the reader can choose.
